One of the FSC pioniers and one of the main multipliers for the FSC furniture sector. More than ten years ago, they already set a goal in the furniture sector: to offer FSC-certified products only by 2025, for their own and licensed brands.
The company has been a FSC Germany member since 2006. In 2021, they offered more than 70,700 different items of furniture, more than 78 percent of which were FSC-certified. But the company has not only set itself ambitious sustainability goals in the furniture sector: 97 percent of all their own shipping packaging, 67 percent of the paper used for catalogues and advertising materials is FSC-certified.
Since 2010, they have had their own advertising licence that allows for a wide range of use of the FSC trademarks, for product promotion to statements on their sustainability commitments. And they make much of use of it. By promoting FSC certification with their marketplace and also investing in FSC forest certification they play an important role in the growth of FSC in the furniture sector and beyond in Europe.
Protecting our planet is firmly rooted in the Otto Group’s traditions, as environmental protection was defined a corporate goal as early as 1986. Today, Otto Group is working with ambitious targets to further minimize our ecological footprint. In doing so, Otto Group consider the impact of our products on the climate, ecosystems and society over their entire life cycle: from the extraction of raw materials to production conditions, from material consumption and shipping to use and disposal by customers.
